Bitcoin Now Accepted as Payment for Passport Application in Venezuela

Hey ninja’s, how’s the trading going? The majority of the top cryptocurrencies are reporting daily losses with the largest cryptocurrency bitcoin reporting daily losses of 3.52% and is trading at 9,307 at press time.

According to information leaked on Reddit on the 23rd of June, SAIME, Venezuela’s Administrative Service for Identification, Migration, and Foreigners reportedly plans to accept Bitcoin (BTC) as a payment option for acquiring a Venezuelan passport. News of the new development immediately spread to twitter and was confirmed by some Venezuelans abroad. Twitter account, BTCLovera shared in a tweet 24th of June that the new development has been personally confirmed writing that news of SAIME accepting Bitcoin is “totally true”. Similar payments can also be made using the country's pseudo-currency Petro.

Although the new Bitcoin being accepted by SAIME was confirmed by Venezuelans living aboard, it appears that this option is not available to Venezuelans living in the country. A few hours after the Reddit post was published the author explained that he could not reverify the option. At press time, SAIME is yet to confirm or deny the validity of the leaked information on the new payment option.
