C++ Creator Speaks On Bitcoin Mining

Hey ninjas, how’s the trading going? On the day the cryptocurrency market is trading sideways and the largest cryptocurrency Bitcoin is trading at $8,794 at press time.

The Danish computer scientist and inventor of C++ programming language Bjarne Stroustrup aired his frustration on the use of C++ for mining Bitcoin in an interview for Lex Friedman’s podcast.

On the podcast which was released on the 7th of November, Bjarne Stroustrup spoke extensively on the evolution of C++, its concepts and its efficiency.

He noted that it is nothing new for programming languages to be used in ways which they were not made to be used but he is especially disappointed in Bitcoin’s creator Satoshi Nakamoto, for choosing C++ as the language used to write Bitcoin’s original source code.

He further explained that being the creator of a tool you have no control on how it will be used, he pointed out that Bitcoin is mostly useful to criminals and Bitcoin mining uses a massive amount of electricity, comparing the amount of energy required to mine Bitcoin to the amount of energy used in Switzerland.

He stated that he is proud and happy of some of the things his programming language is being used for and stated that there are certain things he wished people wouldn’t use it for.
