Crypto mining script Discovered behind Kobe Bryant Wallpaper

Following the recent crash of a helicopter in California that claimed the life of basketball legend Kobe Bryant and his 13-year-old daughter Gianna Bryant as well as seven other people on board.

The incident sparked a major interest for fans of the late basketball player and the general public, the need for Bryant’s pictures was seen by cybercriminals as an opportunity to commit a crime. On the 31st of January, Microsoft Security Intelligence tweeted that a malicious HTML code designed to crypto jack its victims were discovered in a desktop wallpaper of Kobe Bryant.

Crypto-jacking is unauthorized use of someone else’s computer to mine cryptocurrency remotely. The crypto-jacking script was put in place as a trap for persons searching for momentous of the late basketball legend.

The malicious HTML file was discovered by Microsoft’s virus protection software, Windows defender, and the website hosting the crypto-jacking file was blocked by the software.
